On June 29, 2002, a failed bombing attempt at the port of Piraeus led Greek authorities to the arrest of Savvas Xiros, a member of the November 17 urban guerrilla group (17N). His arrest, the first ever of a member of the group, led to the discovery of two hideouts, a ground-level apartment in Athens’ Kato Patissia district and a two-room flat in Pagrati area.
The Chinese Vases script is part of a larger research by the artist on November 17 entitled Objects to relate to a trial (17N) and concerns the testimony of three plumbers in the 17Ν’s trial, about what they saw in one of the hideouts when they went to repair the plumbing.
The November 17 Revolutionary Organization was established in 1975 in the aftermath of the Greek military dictatorship (1967-1974).
The group, the most durable of the urban guerrilla groups to emerge from the European radical milieu of the 1970s, assassinated 23 people in 103 attacks on US, British, Turkish and Greek targets over a period of 27 years.
The trial of the 17N opened in Athens on March 3, 2003, and lasted nine months. It was one of the most publicly followed trials in the history of Greece.

Στις 29 Ιουνίου 2002, μια αποτυχημένη βομβιστική επίθεση στο λιμάνι του Πειραιά οδήγησε τις ελληνικές αρχές στην πρώτη σύλληψη μέλους της 17 Νοέμβρη, του Σάββα Ξηρού. Η σύλληψή του οδήγησε στην ανακάλυψη δύο κρησφύγετων, ένα ισόγειο διαμέρισμα στα Κάτω Πατήσια και ένα διαμέρισμα δύο δωματίων στο Παγκράτι.
Το σενάριο των Κινέζικων Βάζων (2017), μέρος μιας μεγαλύτερης έρευνας του καλλιτέχνη για την 17 Νοέμβρη με τίτλο Objects to relate to a trial (17Ν), αφορά την κατάθεση τριών υδραυλικών στη δίκη της 17Ν, σχετικά με αυτά που είδαν σε ένα από τα κρησφύγετα όταν πήγαν να επισκευάσουν τα υδραυλικά.
Η δίκη της 17Ν, μια από τις πιο σημαντικές υποθέσεις της πρόσφατης ελληνικής ιστορίας, ξεκίνησε στην Αθήνα στις 3 Μαρτίου 2003 και διήρκεσε εννέα μήνες.
Το έργο του Βαγγέλη Βλάχου (Αθήνα, Ελλάδα, 1971) επικεντρώνεται σε κοινωνικοπολιτικά γεγονότα του πρόσφατου παρελθόντος της Ελλάδας με σκοπό την επανεξέταση και την επανερμηνεία τους. Τα αρχεία, τα κείμενα και τα βίντεό του δημιουργούν ένα δίκτυο αναφορών και σχέσεων, δοκιμάζοντας τη δυνατότητα να δούμε και να κατανοήσουμε διαφορετικές στιγμές από το παρελθόν έξω από τις κυρίαρχες αφηγήσεις.
